WHY We Do What We Do

Lara Wilson, a well-published author of short fiction and writing teacher, established Be Well Be Here after successfully completing stage III breast cancer treatment with the help of an optimistic outlook, top-notch medical professionals, a team of holistic practitioners, a community of 100 caring friends, a deep connection with nature, and a dedicated 40-year meditation practice. Aware that decades of mindfulness practice and study were fundamental to her positive health outcome, Lara deepened her healing arts practice and education with deep resolve to share it with others. She earned her Reiki Level II designation and RYT-200 with additional certification in restorative/yoga nidra. Lara continually studies of qi gong with Daisy Lee and has worked with experts such as Master Yang Yang of the breast cancer center at Memorial Sloane-Kettering in NYC. At Harvard, Lara studied the mind/body connection and learned from data-driven research how mindfulness practice along with integrative therapies can promote improved health. In 2018, she earned a graduate certificate in Mindfulness Studies at Lesley University, where she delved deeply into the history of mindfulness from the Buddhist traditions to contemporary scholarship and practices. A committed daily meditation practioner, she continues to go to annual retreats at centers such at Insight Meditation Society and the Barre Center for Buddhist studies. Lara’s experience as a lifelong student of meditation, a storyteller, a writing teacher, a collaborator, and a devotee of holistic health inspire her to share her expansive mindful wellness methodologies with a broader community. Her mission to compassionately connect and co-create mindful wellness practices with people of all walks of life inspires the collaborative nature of Be Well Be Here.
