From Diet Myths to Body Bliss

A 2-Session Online Workshop on Intuitive Eating as a Path to Mindful Wellness

Tuesdays, September 21 and 28 at 7:30 pm

The diet industry is a $72.2 billion dollar per year industry that expertly targets and amplifies our insecurities in order to sell their programs and products. Inundated by photoshopped illusions of seemingly perfect bodies coupled with secret elixirs that promise perfect health and longevity, we can become victims of a false narrative that leaves us perpetually dissatisfied and stressed out. Join Monika Ostroff, MEDA Executive Director to debunk diet myths and open to nourishing possibilities.

Session 1 – Reclaim Your Inner Wisdom Tuesday, September 21 at 7:30 pm

What exactly is diet culture and how pervasive is it? Explore ways to know when you’ve been duped by the marketing genius of diet culture and are practicing eating habits that compromise rather than enhance your health. Begin to recognize when you might be in a dietary red zone by asking yourself 6 essential questions and discover facets of social conditioning that disprove old tropes such as "you are what you eat." Learn how to cultivate self-compassion by becoming a savvy consumer who can choose a new path to reclaim the body's innate wisdom.

Session 2 – Intuitive Eating for Mindful Wellness Tuesday, September 28 at 7:30 pm

Armed with the ability to recognize diet culture and its covert operation in your daily life, you’re ready to learn how to cultivate true health and wellness. Together, we'll examine principles of Intuitive Eating and the importance of interoceptive awareness, our body's natural way to communicate through the senses. Discover what you can do to feel sane, healthy and at peace with your body. It’s not as obvious as you might think - the research-backed methods we’ll discuss may surprise you!
